Alfa Romeo 147Alfa Romeo 147 is a small family car produced by the Italian automaker from 2000 to 2010. The model was presented by a three-door and five-door hatchback. In 2001, the Alfa Romeo 147 was recognized as the European Car of the Year, ahead of the Ford Mondeo and the Toyota Prius. The model won more than 25 different titles and awards in total.
Alfa Romeo 147 I generationIn the late 1990s the Alfa Romeo company actively updated the lineup, replacing older cars with more advanced ones. At the same time, working on a new model began, the launch of which was planned to coincide with the beginning of the new millennium. Engineer Wolfgang Egger and designer Walter de Silva worked on the creation of Alfa Romeo 147.
In October 2000, a three-door hatchback was introduced to the Italian market, a five-door version of the body was presented a few months later at the Geneva Motor Show. The car received a lot of good reviews. Designers managed to embody in the new model all the management requests: construction lightness, functionality, reliability, sporty design. Designed on the original platform, the car had impressive dimensions (4200 mm long and 1700 mm wide, 2550 mm wheelbase), but with that it had a low drag coefficient, just 0.32.
The most recognizable feature of the Alfa Romeo 147 is the original projection on the hood, lines of which move smoothly to its original triangular grille that extends to the lower edge of the bumper. The license plate on vehicles of this model is mounted on the bumper right side. The concave stripes on the body sides, elongated rear lights and a spoiler over the curved rear window emphasize the swiftness of Alfa Romeo 147. The interior trimming was made in two-tone red and black color scheme, instrument board had a red lighting. A lot of attention has been paid to safety: as standard cars, Alfa Romeo 147 have six airbags, the high line has nine.
Alfa Romeo 147 I generation restylingIn the autumn of 2004 a slight restyling of the model was made, which affected the front and back of the body. Increased radiator grille has shifted even lower, head lights have acquired more classical forms. The front air intake, divided in half horizontally before, now has vertical cut-off at the edges, and the resulting niches house fog lights. Designers changed the style of the rear doors and gave a more elongated triangular shape to the rear lights. As for the car interior improvement, it is worth noting additional color schemes of the trim, improved upholstery materials, changed graphics of the dashboard and a new design of the rear headrests, resulting in improved visibility.
