Alfa Romeo 90 was an executive car. The vehicle assembly was carried out from 1984 to 1987 at a plant in Arese (Arese), Italy. There were produced more than 56 thousand cars in total. One generation and one restyling of the car were released in three years.

Presentation of the Alfa Romeo 90 production model was held at the Turin Motor Show in 1984. The car was designed on the Alfetta platform. Development of the car design was done by the Gruppo Bertone company , under the leadership of Marcello Gandini.

Alfa Romeo 90 cars were produced only in sedan. In 1985 the company began the development of a wagon, but the process went no further than construction of two prototypes. Branded wedge shape of the body adversely affected the aerodynamic characteristics of the car, the drag coefficient was 0.37. But it gave the car a neat and austere exterior design.

In the front end of Alfa Romeo 90 there was a massive bumper, over which there were large rectangular headlamps and a wide grille. The bumper had a traditional trapezoidal stamping, which lines were a continuation of the grille central section. Elements of the rear lights were arranged along the entire width of the body above a massive rear bumper.

The front independent suspension and the rear suspension of "De Dion" type ensured perfect road stability and excellent handling for the vehicle. The engine was located in the body front, but the drive was carried out on the rear pair of wheels.

Alfa Romeo 90 standard equipment included electronic adjustment of the front seats and front electric windows. As additional options the manufacturer offered on-board computer, power steering, digital instrument panel, central locking, rear electric windows, power steering and additional options for paint finishes.

In 1986, the manufacturer made minor changes to the car design. The car received a new grille and an improved dashboard. Alfa Romeo 90 was discontinued in 1987.
