Alfa Romeo Giulia is one of the best selling models of the company. It was produced from 1962 to 1977, between the first and second generations of Alfa Romeo Giulietta. It was released in sedan, coupe, convertible, wagon and van.

Alfa Romeo Giulia was supposed to be the first model produced at a new plant in Arese, but due to constant delays in the construction the first batch of cars in 1962 was assembled at the old factory in Portello. The presentation took place at the national motor-racing track Monza in the summer of 1962. Alfa Romeo Giulia TI (Turismo Internazionale) was introduced the first. An interesting feature of the car interior was a one-piece front seating, intended as the rear one for three places.

A year later, Alfa Romeo Giulia Ti Super came into the market, lighter than the predecessor: the hood and doors were made of aluminum, the front and side windows were made of plexiglass. During the year 501 copies were produced, which was enough to take part in racing competitions. After them, the production of this car was discontinued in 1964. At the same time, the company released an updated Alfa Romeo Giulia TI: disc brakes, separate front seats, gearshift lever, mounted on the floor.

In 1971, Alfa Romeo Giulia cars received a small restyling: grille was repainted in black and supplied with chrome ribs and chrome edge of rear lights was removed. Restyling of 1974 was more serious, resulting even in a renewed name of the model - Alfa Romeo Giulia Nuova Super. The front of the car got a new look: a changed grille and corporate Alfa Romeo shield, a central longitudinal rib disappeared from the hood and the trunk lid. As for the interior, the changes affected the instrument panel and the center console with vents, carpet and seat headrests appeared.

The versatility of the model technical components were widely exploited by coachbuilders, that presented their versions of Alfa Romeo Giulia in different variants in 1960-70. Thus, the first coupe was assembled by the Pininfarina company (its presentation was held in Turin in 1964).

Models that were produced in coupe: Alfa Romeo Giulia GT (originally - Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT), Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA (sports modification of Alfa Romeo Giulia GT), Alfa Romeo Giulia GT 1300 Junior (inexpensive modification of the Alfa Romeo Giulia GT, subsequently lost the name Giulia). The production of Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTC convertible was carried out for a short time.

There were several Alfa Romeo Giulia wagons (they were called Alfa Romeo Promiscua or Alfa Romeo Giardinetta), proposed by various studios. Finally, Alfa Romeo Giulia vans were released, which were used by the traffic police.

In June 2015 on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the company the Alfa Romeo Historical Museum hosted a presentation of the revived Alfa Romeo Giulia sedan, at once in the most expensive equipment Quadrifoglio Verde.
