The decorative grille underwent a form change and the luggage compartment was increased. The round tail was replaced by the cut-off one. For increasing safety, the car had received bumpers of improved design.

The third generation of Alfa Romeo Spider cars went on sale in 1983. Decorative V-shaped grille was mounted in the front bumper of a new design. The manufacturer had equipped the car with a small rear spoiler made of rubber.

Some modifications got cast aluminum wheels with a diameter of 15 inches. As an option, the manufacturer equipped the car with air conditioning and a hard removable top.

The release of the Alfa Romeo Spider fourth generation was launched in 1990. The car was equipped with electronic fuel injection system and new plastic bumpers that in most modifications were painted the body color. It had undergone significant changes in the rear lights, and front and rear spoilers had been removed.

In the markets of some countries standard cars had airbags, leather trim, air conditioning and power steering. Alfa Romeo Spider was discontinued by the manufacturer in 1993.

Alfa Romeo Spider 939 design was pronounced the best in 2006, according to the British magazine Autocar. The model release was discontinued in the autumn of 2010. A total of about 12.5 thousand cars came off the production line.
