Alfa Romeo SZ car was a sports coupe. The assembly was carried out in small batches in the period from 1992 to 1994, at Zagato factory in Rho (Rho), Italy. In total just over 1000 cars were produced.

The launch of the Alfa Romeo SZ concept took place in spring 1989 at the Geneva Motor Show. Development of the car design involved Zagato, Alfa Romeo and Fiat style centers. Robert Opron and Antonio Castellana supervised the project work. The designers used the platform of Alfa Romeo 75 as a basis. The car was produced in the coupe body.

The car headlights consisted of six separate elements. The radiator grille consisted of a central V-shaped and two small lateral sections. The bumper was painted in the body color. Design of Alfa Romeo SZ model caused a lot of debate in the automotive press and the car unofficially was called 鈥渁 monster."

The distinctive shape of the car body provided its excellent aerodynamics performance - the drag coefficient was 0.30. Composite panels made from fiberglass and heat-shrinkable organic resins were widely used in the production of Alfa Romeo SZ. Car body was painted in black, red, yellow. Basic equipment models included leather trim, electric windows and power steering.

Alfa Romeo SZ cars were equipped with ventilated brake discs. Due to the extremely small clearance, designers equipped the car with rear suspension with adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers. The vehicle was noted for high performance and excellent resistance to overload on the turns.

Since 1992, the manufacturer has established a parallel small-scale convertible production, named Alfa Romeo RZ. The model production was discontinued in 1994. Today, because of the rarity of the car, it is of great interest for collectors.

Alfa Romeo RZ model was also known under the name Alfa Romeo ES 30.
