Fiat Grande PuntoFiat Grande Punto is the front-wheel drive car, the third generation of the popular Fiat Punto model, it was released from 2005 to 2012 in two types of a body 鈥� three - and a five-door hatchback. It is designed on the Fiat-GM platform. It was produced in Italy, and also in Brazil (for the Latin American market) and India (for the markets of Asia). In 2005 according to the EuroNCAP crash tests results, the car won all five stars. At the same year the model got the "Gold Wheel" award in Germany.
History of creation Fiat Grande PuntoThe presentation of Fiat Grande Punto took place in 2005 in Frankfurt. Producers call it "model in model". These cars were initially conceived as the third generation of Fiat Punto but had atypical for this model design and dimensions. Because of these dimensions the car received also the name Grande Punto.
From a second generation this car got only a part of a name 鈥� Punto, in all the rest the car was absolutely different from the predecessor. For larger appeal the design of the Fiat Grande Punto nose was made in the Maserati Coupe style, the body shape also underwent transformation for the improvement of aero dynamism of a car.
Decently decorated passenger compartment became more spacious and more convenient. The basic complete set of Fiat Grande Punto included front seats heating, the conditioner and two airbags, and the parking assistant and a glass roof appeared in the list of extra options. Unlike similar cars from other producers, Fiat Grande Punto had a system of speed limit: at excess of the high-speed mode set by the driver the audible signal was heard.
In new Fiat Grande Punto the emphasis was placed on its safety. It is provided with the ABS, EBD systems (electric brakeforce distribution), ESP (system of stabilization of a car) and Hill Holder which doesn鈥檛 let the starting car slip down on the rise. Passive safety system has safety belts with prestretchers, airbags and the head restraints of front seats preventing neck injuries.
In the summer of 2006 Fiat Grande Punto cars marked the return of the Italian concern to the markets of Australia and New Zealand after 17-year absence and, thanks to high environmental friendliness, made great commercial success.
