Honda HR-VHonda HR-V crossovers production started in 1998 and is still in process. Today there are two generations and one facelift on the market. Manufacturing was established in Japan, Brazil, India, Mexico and Malaysia.
Honda HR-V I generationThe J-W-J concept car was presented in 1997 on Tokyo Motor Show. Sales started the next year, and results showed a great success of this model. Car was presented in 3-door and 5-door crossovers.
Due to an excellent road performance and small dimensions HR-V fit well for a city driving. In addition, it showed good results in off-road driving: developers installed wide tires and made high road clearance 鈥� 190 mm.
There were the following options in basic configuration: power pack, air-conditioner, folding rear seats, rear spoiler with large LED stoplight, fog lights and hydraulic power steering. Front seats were very comfortable and had few low back supports. Dashboard was informative, all control buttons were at driver鈥檚 hand.
Developers paid much attention to safety of passengers; Honda HR-V cars were equipped with ABS (antiskid braking system), EBD (electronic brake force distribution) and airbags with two levels of opening.
Honda HR-V I generation faceliftRestyling of Honda HR-V took place in 2001. Changes affected exterior mostly: bumpers size reduced, round fog lights were integrated into a front bumper, and basic configuration got alloy wheels.
Interior changes were minor: dashboard became black and got inserts of material imitating titan. Next options appeared in basic configuration: headlights with auto-corrector, leather steering wheel, immobilizer, power folding side mirrors.
Honda HR-V II generationOn New York Motor Show in 2014, concept of Honda HR-V second generation was presented. After a long pause company decided to resume popular crossover production. New car differed by a stylish exterior design and comfortable interior, in which many technical innovations were carried out. Only 5-door crossovers were produced.
