Kia Cee鈥檇The elegant Kia Cee鈥檇 has been manufactured since 2007. Currently there are two generations of this model and two restyled models on the market. The production is based in Slovakia, Russia, and Kazakhstan. The car received multiple prestigious awards. For example, in 2007 it was named the "Best family vehicle" in Sweden.
First generation Kia Cee鈥檇At the 2006 Geneva Motor Show, a prototype of the five-door hatchback Kia Cee'd Concept was presented to the public. A few months later, at an auto show in Paris, a prototype of a three-door hatchback Kia Pro_cee'd Concept was unveiled. The vehicles differed by a few elements of the exterior design. Both automobiles were specifically targeted towards the European market. The design was developed by a German team headed by Peter Schreyer.
Unlike Kia Cee'd Concept, the mass produced vehicle had a discreet design. The front featured large headlights and a trapezoidal radiator grill with two chrome plated bars. Exquisite embossing pattern on the hood and a wide air intake delivered a holistic sense of style. The interior was extremely spacious and comfortable. Comfortable seats enabled excellent lateral support. Luxury modifications of the vehicle had a choice of upholstery made partially or completely out of leather.
Kia Cee'd vehicles were marked by a high level of safety. The body was designed so as to absorb the energy of impact from seven directions. The base trim model had seatbelts with tensioners, four airbags, and an anti-lock braking system (ABS). The vehicle passed the Euro NCAP test with the highest possible rating of five stars.
Initially, the car was released with a five-door hatchback body. The five-door estate Kia Cee'd_SW was shown at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show. Later the same year, the Frankfurt Motor Show saw the three-door hatchback Kia Pro_cee鈥檇 unveiled.
In 2007, Kia Cee'd vehicles were the most popular cars in Czech Republic and Finland. The same year, Kia Cee'd was named 'Automobile of the Year' in Greece, Poland, Lithuania, the Canary Islands, Romania, and Belgium. The first generation cars have been manufactured until 2010.
Restyled first generation Kia Cee鈥檇At the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show Kia unveiled the restyled Kia Cee鈥檇. The car had the company's signature radiator grill, new bumpers and headlights. Inside, the central console was redesigned. A new steering wheel was installed.
Second generation Kia Cee鈥檇The second generation of Kia Cee鈥檇 was presented at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The car now looked more dynamic and aggressive. Highly raised rear end, considerably inclined window trim, a steep slope of the windshield served as clear signs of a sporty model. Thanks to sharp headlights' contours and a tiger-nose radiator grill, the Kia Cee鈥檇 stood out from the crowd and was easily recognizable. LED inserts were used in the headlights. High quality plastics, leather, and chrome were used in interior decoration.
Restyled second generation Kia Cee鈥檇At the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, the restyled second generation Kia Cee鈥檇 was presented to the public. The car was fitted with new headlights, bumpers, radiator grill, and wheel rims. Fog lights were redesigned. Some interior elements were retouched. These cars are being currently produced.
