Mazda CX-9
Mazda CX-9 is a crossover produced from 2006 to nowadays. The car is manufactured at the plant of the company in the city of Hiroshima, Japan.
In spite of the fact that the car is produced in Japan only, in domestic market it is not on sale.
Mazda CX-9 I generation
Mazda CX-9 model was developed within partner agreements with the Ford American automobile concern. The new car was based on the Ford CD3 platform which was also used in the Ford Edge model.
The exterior of the car was developed by the staff designer of the Mazda company Kaname Sawai. The style of the car was similar to the style of Mazda CX-7 model but the car had a bigger size, more spacious passenger compartment and improved technical characteristics.
As basic options the car was completed with anti-lock braking system (ABS), system of electronic stability control (ESP), the traction control system (ASR) and system of electronic brake force (EBD). All packages were equipped with one frontal and three side airbags.
As additional options the consumer could install system of navigation, wireless Bluetooth connection, the rear-view camera and the powerful entertaining Bose 5,1 system.
In 2008 developers expanded the number of available engines and began to assemble them from the Japanese component parts completely. Same year the car won the "Crossover of Year" nomination from the automobile "Motor Trend" magazine. Besides, at the auto show in Detroit it was nominated "The North American SUV of year".
Mazda CX-9 I generation restylings
The updated model debuted at the New York automobile show in 2009, and went into stock production in 2010. It had a slightly changed front part of the body: new radiator grilles were installed; headlights and both bumpers were renewed. The Auto Week automobile magazine wrote the following review of the model: "Compared with other crossovers, Mazda CX-9 is very reliable and stylish. It feels practically like a sports car".
Designers started an extensive advertising campaign in Australia so the car received great popularity in this market.
The model was available in three packages: Classic, Luxury and Grand Touring. As basic options, the system of three-zonal climate control and wireless Bluetooth were installed. In addition, buyers could have leather seats and leather upholstery with metal inserts installed in the passenger compartment.
The second restyling of Mazda CX-9 cars took place in 2013. The design of the exterior of the car was changed completely. The front part of the body began to look sportier and aggressive because of the new large radiator grille and headlights. Also designers changed the shape of fog lights.
The engines were improved considerably, having their with power and engine torque increased. Also transmission was significantly elaborated.
