Mitsubishi Galloper I generation
Production of the first generation of Mitsubishi Galloper cars continued in 1991-1998. The model was constructed on the basis of the Mitsubishi Pajero ORV. Cars had the same bodies, suspension, and many units also including power units. Distinctions were in design of the exterior only.
The Mitsubishi Galloper model was produced in three-door and five-door ORV bodies. Three-door ORVs were 4 090 mm long, 1 780 mm wide and 1 870 mm high. Five-door ORVs were 600 mm longer and 30 mm higher.
The body of Mitsubishi Galloper had angular form. The model had round front headlights and expressive wheel arches. Externally the car stood out by its unique front bumper design.
These cars had excellent running characteristics and cross-country ability. Special attention was paid to safety. Additional protection in case of side collision was provided by steel bars in the doorway of the car. Also the cars were equipped with an airbag for the driver and anti-locking braking system (ABS).
The five-door ORV was designed for seven seats. Two seats of the third row could be folded, which allowed to increase boot volume.
Mitsubishi Galloper II generation
In 1998 at the Geneva motor show the model of the second generation was presented. The body of the modernized car had a more streamlined silhouette. The car differed from the predecessor by new rectangular headlights and an altered radiator grille. Also the front bumper and the hood were updated.
Interior design of the car was laconic and functional. It had straight lines. The power steering was offered as an additional option. On the dashboard there was a panel with an electronic clock and lateral inclinometer and altimeter displays.
