Production of Mitsubishi Sigma continued from 1980 to 1996. Cars were manufactured at the plant of the FCA Australia company in Australia, and in Japan also.
Mitsubishi Sigma 1980�1987
The Mitsubishi Sigma model debuted in October, 1980. Up to that time the cars had been called Chryslers Sigma. Change of the name was caused by FCA Australia merging with the Mitsubishi Motors corporation.
The Mitsubishi Sigma GH model of the first generation was produced in Australia and was constructed on the base of the Japanese Mitsubishi Galant car of the third generation. Cars were released in sedan, station wagon and coupe bodies.

In 1981 the limited series of Mitsubishi Sigma GH Peter Wherrett cars was released. Cars had 15-inch Montego cast discs, ergonomic Recaro seats, MOMO steering wheel and Bilstein shock-absorbers.
