Mitsubishi Space WagonTyp D00
The first generation of cars was produced from February, 1983 to May, 1985. The Mitsubishi Space WagonTyp D00 model was constructed on the basis of the SSW concept car presented at the Tokyo motor show in 1979.
The exterior design of the car was made unique by a stylish decorative element on the bonnet. Length of the wheel base depended on the design of transmission. The wheel base of front-wheel cars comprised 2625 mm, and that of four-wheel drive cars 2630 mm. The body of cars reached 4490 mm in length, 1645 mm in width. Height was also defined by design of transmission and comprised 1525 mm for front-wheel cars and 1580 mm for four-wheel drive cars.
Cars had spacious ergonomic seven-seater passenger compartment and a capacious trunk. The cargo compartment was 1800 mm long, 1200 mm wide, and 850 mm high.
Interior design of Mitsubishi Space WagonTyp D00 minivan was in many respects borrowed from the Mitsubishi Galant model, however the transmission arm was placed on the central console and not between front seats. Seats were arranged in three rows. Advantage of the car was the good visibility reached due to high seat of the driver.
Mitsubishi Space WagonTyp D00 restyling
In March, 1985, the design of the exterior of the car was slightly updated. Changes affected hardware mainly. Also there were more powerful modifications.
Mitsubishi Space Wagon Typ N30/N40
In autumn of 1991 the second generation of Mitsubishi Space Wagon Typ N30 with completely updated body debuted. The updated car reached 4 515 mm in length, 1 695 mm in width and 1,580 mm in height. Since 1995 the car became 40 mm longer and 90 mm higher (Mitsubishi Space Wagon Typ N40).
Also the car had new headlights. The front bumper and the radiator grille were changed. The railing appeared on the roof.
The flexible configuration of seats was a specific characteristic of the model. Seatbacks of the second row could be folded at a 50/50 ratio. Seats could be shifted forward and back. The entire third row could be removed that allowed to increase the boot.
Mitsubishi Space Wagon Typ N50
On October 17, 1997, the premiere of the third generation took place. The Mitsubishi Space Wagon Typ N50 car was increased in sizes again. The body got more streamlined outlines, a spoiler appeared on the roof so aerodynamics of the car improved. Door handles and mirrors began to be painted in colour of the body. In general the design of a minivan became modern.
Power windows, power steering, external mirrors with the electric drive, and also a central lock were included in the basic package of cars.
In May, 2003, the car was succeeded by the Mitsubishi Grandis model.
