Nissan S130 sport cars production was being performed in 1978-1983. Manufacturing was established at Nissan Shatai Co., Ltd. factory in Hirazuka (Japan). The model became 鈥淚mport Car of the Year鈥� by version of American Motor Trend magazine in 1979. The car took part in IMSA GTU (in 1979 and 1980) and IMSA GTO (in 1982 and 1983) competitions.

Nissan S130 is the second generation of Nissan Z-car. The car came in 3-door fastback version. Car had specific assemblies, common with its predecessor 鈥� Nissan S30. But, in opposition to S30, updated model was characterized by a lower fuel consumption, better aerodynamics and modern design. Black plastic bumpers, a slowly sloping roof line, a long hood, expanded wheel arches and deeply mounted headlights were exterior particulars.

Turbo version debuted in 1981.

Restyling of Nissan S130 took place in 1982. Changes affected rear lights. Bumpers were body-colored. New 14-inch wheel alloy rims with six spokes were included in a basic configuration. Turbo engine versions got 15-inch wheel rims with four spokes.

Nissan S130 was replaced on market with Nissan 300ZX.

Nissan S130 was sold under the name of Datsun 280ZX in the USA and Australia. On Japanese market it was called Nissan Fairlady Z.
