Opel Corsa
Opel Corsa was released since 1982 till present at the plants of nine countries of the world. Today five generations and five restylings of this car are presented. Despite the wide popularity, Opel Corsa cars were never delivered to the USA or Canada.
Model 1982鈥�2000
At the time of release in 1982, cars of the first generation were presented by a 3-door hatchback and a 2-door sedan. In 1984 the 4-door sedan and a 5-door hatchback appeared.
The first generation of Opel Corsa was restyled twice. In 1988 changes were insignificant and affected only an exterior of a front bumper, and in 1990 design was considerably improved 鈥� new headlights, bumpers, radiator grille appeared. In 1993 there was the second generation of the car. The 5-door station wagon was added to existing types of a body, and instead of a 2-door sedan (after restyling of 1997) the pickup appeared.
The second generation of Opel Corsa got stylish design, but at the same time had a recognizable exterior and an interior. On the basis of cars of this generation in 1994 the Opel Tigra sporty coupe was released.
Model 2000鈥�2014
The third generation produced in 2000 did not receive cardinal changes in design of the body, but got the increased wheelbase that made the passenger compartment more spacious. The new chassis increased stability of the car at high speed.
This generation of Opel Corsa had commercial success, however the German designers worked on improvement of the model all the time, and, after slight face lifting in 2003, in 2006 the fourth generation, Opel Corsa D in three-door and five-door hatchback body styles, was presented in London.
The fourth generation was created on the Gamma platform co-produced by the Fiat and GM Companies that allowed to increase dimensions of Opel Corsa cars. The design of an exterior was changed considerably and became more progressive.
Restyling of 2010 affected design of the nose. The engines were updated and became eco-friendly (compliance to the Euro 5 standards) and economic (thanks to the Start & Stop system).
Model OPC
In 2007 the three-door modification of Opel Corsa OPC accelerating to 225 km/h. was produced. Features of interior and exterior emphasized sports character of the car. In 2011 there was a modification of Opel Corsa OPC N眉rburgring Edition that had more powerful engine.
Model E
The fifth generation of Opel Corsa was presented in 2014 at the Parisian motor show. The design and the dimension of the car practically did not differ from Opel Corsa D, but cars had completely updated design.
