Info on RENAULT FUEGO model - the right selection of spare parts

The sporty four-seater coupe of Renault Fuego was released in France from 1980 to 1986 and in South America from 1982 to 1992. In 1981 Renault Fuego became the best-seller compartment in Europe.

Work on creation of this model has begun still in the mid-seventies. For optimization of manufacturing costs of Renault Fuego was designed on the Renault 18 platform. The car has been presented in March, 1980 at the Geneva motor show.

Externally Renault Fuego cars differed from the predecessors 鈥擱enault 15 and Renault 17 coupes 鈥� it had smoother lines of a body, completely glazed rear and corrugated black inserts on each side. The Porshe 924 model had a similar appearance of the rear end. Renault Fuego cars were the first cars in the world equipped with system of remote control of the central lock which was invented by Frenchman Paul Lipschutz. Afterwards it began to be established at all Renault cars.

In 1982 at the Parisian motor show the prototype of a cabriolet of Renault Fuego designed by the Heuliez company has been presented. However the stock production of this car was not realized, and the prototype without registration certificate was sold in 2012 by auction.

In 1984 restyling of the model was executed: it had modern headlights and a radiator grill, the dashboard was updated. It is worth marking out electric adjustable rear-view mirrors and even the on-board computer with eight functions among hardware devices. However these innovations were a little overdue, and Renault Fuego could not sustain the competition with Ford Capri and Opel Manta any more. Therefore in 1985 production of model has been stopped.

Renault Fuego has not received the direct successor in a model range of the producer. They said about designing of the second generation of this model on the basis of Renault Alpine GTA, but because of financial problems and recession of popularity of a coupe body but the process did not move any further than talk.
