SEAT 133
SEAT 133 coupe was being produced in 1974-1979. In total, there is one generation of this model in the market. Cars were assembled in Barcelona, Spain. These cars were manufactured by SKD assembly at the El Nasr enterprise in Cairo, Egypt.
History of SEAT 133 creation
The official premiere of SEAT 133 took place at the Barcelona Motor Show in 1974. In a model range of the SEAT company this car replaced two models at once 鈥� SEAT 850 and SEAT 600. By dimensions, the SEAT 133 was closer to SEAT 600, but by an inner trimming and technical characteristics 鈥� to the SEAT 850 model.
During the creation of a new car, SEAT developers were guided by practical reasons. The energy crisis increased a demand for economic cars therefore SEAT 133 had to become inexpensive both in production and in further operation, but at the same time it should have modern design. As a result, the majority of constructive decisions was adopted from SEAT 850.
The design of the car reminded the Fiat 126 and SEAT 127 models in many respects. The angular body and straight lines looked rather modern. The front part of the car was decorated by rectangular headlights and the chromeplated bumpers. Because of rear-engined configuration these cars did not have a classical radiator grill. Its place was taken by the metal panels painted in the colour of the body. In expensive modifications these panels were made of aluminum. Cases of exterior mirrors were covered with chrome.
The interior differed in simplicity and functionality. The dashboard was very informative: the speedometer, tachometer, the indicator of fuel level and various light indicators gave a complete idea of a state and operation of the vehicle.
SEAT 133 had four configurations.The richest configuration 鈥� Especial lujo 鈥� had plastic bumpers, and was decorated with black mouldings.
In Spain, production of these cars was organized till 1979. About 200 000 copies of SEAT 133 were released during this time.
SEAT 133 in the markets of the different countries
Outside Spain, the SEAT 133 cars were on sale as Fiat 133. These cars were manufactured in Argentina till 1981 and in Egypt till 1995.
