SEAT Marbella three-door hatchbacks were being produced from 1986 to 1998. One generation of the model was presented in the market during this time. Production of cars was carried out in Spain.

The presentation of the SEAT Marbella cars took place in 1986. The model replaced the SEAT Panda hatchback. SEAT Marbella adopted the main lines of an interior and exterior from the previous model. The car had rectangular headlights, an angular body, plastic bumpers and wide plastic mouldings on each side of the body. The radiator grill with horizontal edges on the majority of modifications was painted in the colour of the body. The interior had the same style, as the exterior: it was simple and practical. The shelf in the bottom of the dashboard allowed to organize a space in an interior rationally. The seats upholstered with cloth with well-developed lumbar support were equipped with head restraints.

The interior of SEAT Marbella cars was rather spacious though back passengers could feel a lack of place. Nevertheless, the transformed seats could be turned into rather comfortable berths therefore cars enjoyed a popularity among fans of country rest. The low cost, a reliability and efficiency made the SEAT Marbella hatchback one of the most demanded cars of Spain. The great demand on these cars was observed also in Italy that caused a discontent of the Fiat concern.

The SEAT Marbella cars were released by limited series. These cars differed from other cars in colour of the body (in some modifications the body was painted in bright yellow or pink colour) and inner trimmnig.

On the basis of SEAT Marbella, the commercial SEAT Terra van was esigned.

In 1998 production of this model was stopped.
