Info on TOYOTA IQ model - the right selection of spare parts

Toyota iQ cars were manufactured by the Toyota company in 2008-2015. In total one generation of the model was released. Thanks to the compact sizes, quite good technical characteristics and efficiency, the cars enjoyed wide popularity in Japan and abroad. Release of these cars was orgnized in the cities of Osaka and Takaoka, Japan.

The conceptual car under the name Toyota iQ debuted at the Frankfurt motor show in 2007. The design of the car was developed by the French studio ED2 belonging to the Japanese company. Head and tail lights of the concept car had triangular shape, the windshield smoothly passed into a panoramic roof. In spite of compact sizes engineers managed to offer a new boarding formula 3+1.

The Toyota iQ stock model was presented at the Geneva motor show in 2008. The same year the car went on sale in Japan, and in 2009 appeared in the markets of Europe. Unlike a concept, the exterior of the stock model was less e褋centric. Triangular headlights were replaced with lights of ordinary shape, it was decided also to remove the glass roof. Rear pillars had the curved shape that increased visibility and made a car exterior bright and recognizable. Only the three-door hatchback was available. The passenger compartment differed in simplicity and functionality. Plastic with a leather-like and rice paper-like stamping was used for decoration. The central console had the triangle shape.

In the competition "European Car of Year" in 2010 the Toyota iQ model won the second place. In 2008 the car won the competition "Car of Year" in Japan.

Due to the lack of trunk designers had to equip the car with the rear curtain airbags opening behind head restraints of the second row of seats. Toyota iQ became the first car using this technology. In 2009 in Euro NCAP crash tests the model got the highest assessment in five stars.

In 2015 the production of the model was terminated.

In 2012 at the Tokyo tuning exhibition the sports modification of Toyota iQ with a Supercharger prefix was presented. The car differed in the improved technical characteristics and the updated design. Lines of the body became sharper and angular, the front part looked massive because of a big bumper and a plastic spoiler. Toyota iQ Supercharger was equipped with sports seats. In an inner trim the bright colors corresponding to a body color were used. In total 100 copies were released.

Toyota iQ cars are known also under other names. In the USA and Canada this car was on sale as Scion IQ. Also the car was released under the name Aston Martin Cygnet.
