Honda PilotProduction of Honda Pilot started in 2003 and is still in process. Car manufacturing was established in Canada and the USA. Today there are three generations and two facelift-models of Honda Pilot on the market.
Honda Pilot I generationInitially, Honda Pilot SUV was sold in 2003 and was oriented on American market. The success was so great, that after a while the manufacturer started to supply European markets.
Minimalistic design prevailed in Honda Pilot exterior. Each car had protective pads on sides, sills, railings and a small radiator grille. A tiny stop signal repeater was placed under a small spoiler over the fifth door.
Honda Pilot interior was practical and comfortable. Seats of the third row may be folded in a few seconds, making the luggage compartment almost twice bigger. Interior had many glass-holders and niches for small things storage.
Honda Pilot safety was on the top level: front airbags with two action algorithms (according to force of impact) and passenger location sensor for airbag opening direction correction.
Manufacturer thought through suspension construction: front axle got McPherson suspension, rear 鈥� multi-link suspension. With disc brakes, part-time AWD (all-wheel drive), strengthened bottom and powerful engine Honda Pilot showed excellent capability during the off-road driving.
Honda Pilot I generation faceliftDuring restyling in 2006 Honda Pilot got a new bumper,a radiator grille with changed plates and taillights with transparent lenses. Changes in interior affected storage niches and glass-holders. Also side air-bags were installed and central console got a chrome edging.
Honda Pilot II generationIn 2008 on Detroit Motor Show the second generation of Honda Pilot cars made its debut; its sales started in 2009. Developers changed its interior and exterior design 鈥� car started to look more staid and powerful. There were four configurations: LX, EX, EX-L and Touring.
Basic configuration of Honda Pilot included 17-inch steel wheels, power windows, Smart Entry system, built-in tow mechanism, cruise-control and audio system with 8 speakers. Maximum configuration, Touring, had audio system with 10 speakers, navigation system with camera and voice recognition module.
Honda Pilot II generation faceliftRestyling of second generation Honda Pilot was made in 2012. Developers installed a new front bumper and alloy disks. There were no minor changes in interior.
Honda Pilot III generationDuring Chicago Motor Show in February, 2015 the third generation of Honda Pilot debuted. Production start was planned for February of 2016, and sales start 鈥� for summer 2015.
Developers installed new headlights with automatic day running lights, LED day running lights and stoplights.
LaneWatch camera in a right mirror, Lane Departure Warning additional camera, Forward Collision Warning system and adaptive cruise control were also added into the list of options.
