MG MGR creation historyThe presentation of MG RV8 took place at the Motor Show in Birmingham in October 1992. The following year the car went on sale. The car became a successor of the cult MGB V8 model, which was produced in 1970s.
The power unit was placed in the front part of the body. The car had a rear-wheel drive. MG RV8 got its name due to its powerful eight-cylinder V engine. The car had high dynamic rates.
The front wheels were equipped with disc brakes and rear - with drum ones. The car was mounted with a limited-slip differential. The front suspension of the car was independent, while the rear one was dependent, with leaf springs.
The car had big round headlights in a bug-eye style with turn indicators and fog lights integrated into the front bumper underneath them. The rectangular radiator grille was partly covered by the bumper. The licens plate was located above it. A round power bulge was mounted on the bottom of the hood.
The side-view windows were colored black. Characteristic “tailfins� with integrated lights were located on the back part of the car. Additional round brake lights were integrated into the rear bumper. MG RV8 cars were equipped with a folding cloth roof.
The manufacturer used natural leather and elm wood for the interior trim of the MG RV8. Seats had advanced lateral support and were equipped with soft headrests. A sports three-spoke steering wheel was mounted into the car. Devices on the dashboard had round dials with black frames.Logo plates were placed on chrome wheel discs.
In 1995 the production of the model stopped. Only 1983 cars were released, 1500 of which were sold in Japan. Initially, 330 vehicles went on sale in the UK. Currently, the model is attractive for collectors and MG brand lovers.
