Peugeot 405In 1987 the series production of Peugeot 405 cars was launched. These cars were being produced up till 1997 in France and in the UK. The manufacture was also arranged in Egypt, Iran, Argentina, Poland, Zimbabwe and Taiwan. Station wagons and sedans were represented on the market. In 1988 Peugeot 405 was given with the 鈥淓uropean car of the year鈥� award.
Peugeot 405 I generationThe presentation of the car was arranged within the Paris Motor Show in 1987. The same year the first generation cars鈥� production was established, and it had lasted till 1992. The car鈥檚 design was created by Peugeot Company in collaboration with Pininfarina 鈥� a famous auto studio. The vehicle was built with the use of a long wheel-base that could provide a perfect course keeping stability.
Eye-catching optics was regarded as the main peculiarity of the Peugeot 405 car that made it widely recognizable. There were large elongated headlights, white turning indicators being a part of the headlamps assembly and classical compact rear lights.
As to the interior trim, one could notice the predominance of fabric materials, but there were also packages with leather upholstering. The comfort of the cabin was provided not only by means of ergonomic seats, but also due to the well-designed ventilation/heating system: the air flow direction and intensity could be chosen individually as a passenger wishes.
As a part of the first generation, a few special vehicles were created, that participated in races. Peugeot 405 T16 and Peugeot Sport were the most prominent exemplars.
Peugeot 405 I generation restylingIn 1992 the first generation鈥檚 restyling of the Peugeot 405 was held, as a result the exterior design was partially changed: moldings were painted the same color as the body, a shape of fog lights was changed, and rail cross bars appeared. Changes did not affect the interior much; only the control panel was improved.
