Peugeot 408Peugeot 408 is a sedan, being produced since 2010 up to the present days. The car鈥檚 assembly is being carried out at factories in Argentina, China and Russia. Nowadays, two generations and one restyling of the model have been represented.
Peugeot 408 I generationProduction of cars aimed that could be represented on the market of developing countries was one of the French auto group鈥檚 strategic action lines. The production of the Peugeot 408 sedan was a result of the agreement with a Chinese auto manufacturer called Dongfeng Motor Corporation.
In January 2010 a presentation of the model was arranged, and in April of the same year a process of active sales was launched. In October 2010, an official presentation of the Peugeot model 408 for the South African market took place during an exhibition in San Paulo. At the end of 2010 a Malaysian manufacturer NAZA Group launched the car鈥檚 assembly for a South-Eastern region of Asia. In Europe this car wasn鈥檛 planned to be produced, as far as the model was never intended being sold in such a region. However after scrutinous test-drives in 2012 the production began at the factory Peugeot in Russia as well.
Peugeot 308 is considered to be a predecessor of Peugeot 408. Engineers took a decision to accomplish this car in a classical style: an elongated hood with four-sided stamp, extended front and rear lights, a large bumper and a narrow slit replaced the radiator grille.
Simplicity and chastity of style appear to be peculiarities of the car鈥檚 interior. Reasonably priced materials used for upholstery are pleasing in view and by-touch. The control panel is performed rather laconically: a tachometer and speedometer are placed sideways of the on-board computer. A large three-spoke steering wheel does not have any buttons for the audio system control; even a top package cannot offer such an option. The Peugeot 408 vehicle鈥檚 passenger compartment is spacious, with comfortable and large-scale front seats; a back seat is oriented for three persons. The luggage compartment is extensive, has a volume of 526 liters.
