Info on FIAT 850 model - the right selection of spare parts

Production of Fiat 850 began in 1964 and continued till 1973. One generation and one restyling in a roadster, a coupe and a van bodies were presented during this period.

Release of the first generation began in 1964. At the designing of Fiat 850, Fiat 600 was taken as a basis, the engine was also borrowed from it. Fiat 850 replaced the Fiat 600 in the market and preceded release of Fiat 1100. Car did not get the name randomly: 850 is the arithmetic average of numbers 600 and 1100.

The producer managed to create the compact, economic and convenient car which quickly won popularity.

In the early seventies, the Fiat 850 model was taken as a basis for creation of compact cars for police in Hotorn (New Jersey, the USA).

New cars in bodies of a coupe and a roadster were released since 1968. More powerful engines were set on both cars. In a coupe the inner trimming was improved, the sporty wheel and disk brakes were established. Changes concerned also an exterior: the producer replaced a back grille, finished a set of fine details, marking in English was also realized on the dashboard.

The exterior of a roadster changed minorly. Designers made front headlights without glass covers a little protruding. Original front lights of turn sygnals were replaced by new ones, set in the bottom of the bumper. The rigid roof of metal colour was set at the cars of Spider Special Edition limited version, and Racer Berlinetta cars had the roof covered with a black vinyl.

The SEAT company produced the model identical to Fiat 850 under the license. Also cars were released in Serbia by the Zastava company.
