Fiat Croma is the car which replaced the Fiat Argenta in the market. Production was organized in Italy in 1985. The liftback and the station wagon were released till 2010. Two generations and two restylings of Fiat Croma cars were presented.

Production of this model began in 1985. It is the front wheel drive liftback built on the Type Four platform. It was taken as a basis by production of Saab 9000 and Alfa Romeo 164. The Fiat Croma design was developed by Giorgetto Giugiaro of ItalDesign. Release of cars of the first generation ceased in 1991.

The Croma received a minor facelift and was shown in 1987 at the Frankfurt motor show. Turn signals received clear glass rather than amber, the lower portions of the bumpers were body-colored.

In 1991 changes have also touched upon the car exterior. Lines of a body became smoother, new headlights appeared. Power windows and the central lock have been added to a basic package. Cars were produced till 1996.

After a long break, in 2005 at the motor show in Geneva the second generation of Fiat Croma 鈥� result of cooperation of Fiat with General Motors - was presented. It was the station wagon built on the basis of Opel Signum with of MacPherson front suspension and multilever rear suspension.

The comfortable spacious passenger compartment designed for four passengers and the driver was a distinctive feature of these cars. The Anti-lock Braking System and Electronic Stability Control systems, seven airbags and spherical side mirrors were included in the standard package.

Fiat Croma of the second generation passed EuroNCAP tests, having gained 34 points. It allowed this car to be in one row with BMW 3 and VW Passat which security systems are considered as one of the best.

In 2007 Fiat Croma cars of the second generation received updates. As a result of restyling, chrome plated disks, new headlights, front and rear bumpers, a radiator grille were set on the car.

Despite high quality of assembling and excellent technical characteristics, the model did not become popular. In this regard in 2010 the management of the company accepted the decision on production closing.
