Release of the first generation of Citro毛n C15 vans was carried out in 1984-1989. The car was constructed on the basis of the Citro毛n Visa model. The interior differed in simplicity and functionality. The driver seat provided high and quite comfortable position. In some packages there were seats with heating.

Citro毛n C15 was offered in a van body. The small party of pickups was released. Also the car was available with the short and extended wheelbase.

Thanks to the low cost, reliability, unpretentiousness in service and simplicity of a design, these cars enjoyed wide popularity at representatives of small business, forwarding agents and transport firms. Citro毛n C15 Police models were used by the French police as office transport. These cars have the greatest popularity in Britain, Poland, Belgium, Luxembourg and Chile.

Citro毛n C15 cars were restyled twice: in 1989 and 1992. In 1989 the car had the new radiator grille, direction indicators were removed from headlights to the bumper. Some cars had double rear doors. In 1992 the logo, the radiator grille and other elements of the exterior were updated. In 2005 the model was out of production.

Three last released cars had a special fate. One car was presented to the authorities of the Spanish city Vigo, the second became an exhibit unit of the Citro毛n museum in Aulnay-sous-Bois, France, and the third was raffled among workers of one of Citro毛n factories.
