Opel Monza is a car of a representative class produced from 1978 to 1986. This two-door coupe succeeded the Opel Commodore Coupé model. The model was manufactured in Russelsheim, Germany.

Development of a new coupe started in 1976. The stock production of the model began in 1978 and proceeded till 1982. The management of the project wished to create the full-fledged competitor to the W126 Mercedes-Benz S class. But sales level of a car was rather low.
The car was based on the GM V-body platform. Designers developed rather ergonomic salon. Textile seats upholstery and a large number of plastic details were included in a basic package. Basic elements of an interior were directly copied from the Opel Rekord E model.
The first sales of the model have shown that the interior is not pleasant to many buyers. In this regard designers created C and S packages. The first was an alternative of a basic package. Besides, it had several additional options: built-in voltmeter and oil quantity sensor. The S package was sports one It had 15-inch disks and stylized interior.

In 1982 the market was entered by the second generation of the car. Designers changed front part of a body considerably. Headlights and the radiator grille were increased. Bumpers were made of plastic, they had the chrome plated metal inserts.
